Basic Design of a Good Swiftlet Farm

I visited many BHs belong to friends, blog readers and clients of contractor. The most common problem is the design of the BH, secondly is the temperature and humidity, thirdly is the sound and facing direction of the external and internal tweeter, and etc. Since a lot of swiftlet farmers still do not know the structure of a good BH, I will elaborate some over here.

A good BH consists of roving area, roving room and nesting room. Size of roving area and  roving room minimum 4 x 4 meter  to allow swiflets to  manuver and turn freely, but some successful BH has roving room with smaller than this size. Yes, I agree. When was  the BH set up? Nowaday, we must ensure that our BH to be attractive in such competitive situation.

The size of nesting room can be 4 x 6 meter. You can use full partition or hanging partition to divide the room. When you adopt full partition, you must be very careful about the flying path of the swiftlets in the BH. If you do not set up properly, it will slower the growth of swiftlets population.

Ceiling board can be used as partition. The roving room is created after the Main Entrance Hole to allow swftlets turn around before entering into nesting room. A partition will be erected between roving room and nesting room to block the light and wind.

I always mention that design is most importance in building a successful swiftlet farm, followed by sound and management. Others supplement such as extra feeding, aroma, and  etc is used to enhance and increase the growth rate of the swiftlet population.

Visit a 2 months plus Standalone BH

Last week went in a standalone BH in agriculture land to check the result after turning on the sound for 2 months plus. I found 10 bird nest based markings, some at level 2 and some at level 3. Level 1 has few spots of droppings, hopefully next round check will find some nest base here. Most of the nest markings are built on the tweeter. This is to prove that the internal sound is favour by the swiftlets. Please enjoy the pictures taken during my visit. I applied those experience I gained over the years to this BH. 

I hope to have at least 100 full cup bird nests when reaching 1 year.

3 of 3（霹雳‧吉輦）马幣升值及市场货源充足导致燕窝收购价急挫，开齌节前每公斤约5千令吉的燕窝，下挫至4千400令吉左右，如果中国市场的缓慢需求量持续，价格可能会进一步滑落。





一些养燕业者鑑於价格的挫跌，不愿低价出售，唯有静观其变再作打算；不过，有者却认为低价出售好过囤货，若遇上贼徒光顾，可能会血本无归，最好跟著市场变动出货。



每公斤急挫五六百令吉



一名养燕业者告诉《星洲日报》，最近来自国外如越南、中国及泰国的收购代理，基於马幣的兑美元的升值，使到他们的成本增加而把价格压低，在短短1个月內，燕窝价格每公斤急挫约五六百令吉。



另一个原因是因月前適逢大马及印尼的回教徒庆开斋节，许多在燕窝加工厂工作的员工返乡过年，致使代理入货的燕窝加工生產暂停顿，令市场的货源充足。



“有关代理收购价是以燕盏为主，若燕盏的品质漂亮，价格还可再涨一点。其他的品种如角燕价格则介於3千800左右，碎燕则约1千200令吉左右。”



该名业者也表示，去年踏入农历十月，燕窝价经企稳在约4千800令吉，是因农历新年將至，燕窝的市场会越来越好。



业者：急挫情形料属短暂性



他深信目前燕窝价的急挫是因季节关係，属短暂性，过后必会回弹。



他也说，大马养燕业者之前的燕窝多由印尼的收购商前来收购，不过，因印尼的收购商常把价钱压得太低，令许多业者另寻出路。



如今，来自泰国、越南、中国等的商家也加入收购大马燕窝的行例，使养燕业者也多了一些选择。



一些收购商在早前以高价收购，若没有及时出货，隨著价格的急速变动，相信经蒙受不少的损失。



该业者也说，燕窝价若企稳在4千余令吉，还是有一定的回酬，投资者还是会继续在这行业斥资扩展燕屋。



收购商多採观望態度



本地燕窝收购商目前多採取观望的態度，而且许多养燕业者之前都以高价售出，收购商高价不买，养燕业者低价不卖，造成最近的燕窝收购市场淡静。



业者表示，燕窝价近几年曾创下最低纪录是每公斤约2千令吉，而最高则达7千令吉。

1 of 2（玻璃市‧加央）玻璃市州政府支持养燕工业，並將在近期內以政府名义，作小资本投资兴建燕屋，投入养燕领域，再给予州內有意加入此领域者適当的指引，鼓励更多小资本企业家参与投资。





设諮询委会提供燕屋指南



玻州农业及农基工业事务委员会主席沙比里说，州政府將会成立諮询小组委员会，容纳兽医局、加央市议会及土地局，作为提供养燕屋指南的小组，以確保不会造成不必要的麻烦。



他说，经过小组成员的考察，发现並非庞大的投资额才有能力经营养燕工业，所以率先由州政府作小投资额的“领头羊”，在加基武吉路20里碑兴建耗资约5万令吉的养燕屋，希望能让更多人看到养燕的商机潜能。



他昨天（12日）分別到十字港甘榜爪夷恩都、玻州港口及峇都布爹谷巡视养燕屋后，向媒体发表谈话。玻州兽医局主任诺哈迪也隨行。



沙比里说，由於政府尚未制定条例，只有中央政府所发出的养燕指南，所以每个养燕屋有各別的结构形式，投资额也各有不同，包括在住宅区商店改造为养燕屋，造成居民频密投诉噪音和卫生问题。



因此，他说，有了諮询小组委员会，就能给予更恰当的意见，包括如何引燕、减少噪音等，同时將养燕屋建在合適的地点，避免再出现养燕工业是“无人管”的领域。



建燕屋地段须转换用途



“最重要的是，准备兴建燕屋的私人地段必须转换为商业地段。”



询及州內有多少养燕业者，沙比里说，目前有89人已向州兽医局登记，不过相信州內有超过100名养燕投资者尚未註册。



他对於养燕工业抱有很大的信心，並相信只要用心经营，能够在他日有很不错的收成。



业者：不简单

“养燕业须耗数年才收成”



养燕业者许瑞福及阿都哈密异口同声说，养燕並非简单的事，需要耗上数年才能得到好收成。



许瑞福的燕屋位於他所经营的五金厂后方，耗资约20万令吉来兴建养燕屋和准备相关器材，至今约有5年，平均每个月可收成並卖出1公斤燕窝，值4千令吉左右。



至於阿都哈密，则把养燕屋建在本身的独立式洋房，儘管有人对此嘖嘖称奇，不过他说，燕子並不会造成环境污染，所以也为了引燕，业者不惜砸下重本，安装没给他和家人带来卫生问题。

（彭亨‧吉拉央15日訊）你聽過或見過全身皆白的燕子嗎？吉拉央一間燕屋出現罕見白燕，讓業者感到十分稀奇！

業者譚女士表示，該白色燕子處於剛成年的年級，目前在燕屋內筑窩，仍未產蛋。



网上資訊顯示，之所出現白燕，那是遺傳過程中基因變异出現的白化現象。

Result after a month

Finaly settled down all my works and others BH revamp, so I able to update my blog again. These is the result of my standalone BH after a month. Actually there were around 15 droppings, but I only upload some of the pictures. From the roving room picture, you can see there were some birds came to play or even stayed as there were some dropping on the wall of the roving room.

I am happy with the result, and affirm that the BH's design is providing conducive environment for swiftlets.
This is the result from my new sound. But I am still thinking the BH can do better, so I have changed it to my collection. Lets see how the result after a month later. Will update you again.

Have a successful farming!

A tired weekend

Finally, I managed to turn on the sound and put my standalone BH into operation. I used 2 Amp for Internal sound to run alternately for 24hrs to support more than 1000 internal tweeters. 1 Amp for External sound and 1 Amp for Hexagon tweeters.

There were many standalone BHs went into operation last few months and there will be some standalone BH and shoplot BH going to operate as well. Therefore we must ensure our BH design, sound, aroma and microhabitat environmet are good in order to compete with others in such challenging situation.

In the coming weeks, I predict there will be a lot of young birds flying out as nowaday a lot of young birds still perching on the nest. So this is the good time to put your BH into operation. Since this is a standalone BH in agriculture land, so owl preventive measure is highly concerned and considered.

For standalone BH, you must possess some skill to attarct swiftlets from town to your agriculture land, furthermore to make the feel comfortable and stay down. If not, you will lose in such competitive situation. That's why around 80% failure rate especially those standalone BH.

Ready Made Mist Maker

As I have received quite a lot queries over DIY mist maker and wonder where to find the accessories and since I will be going back Malaysia over this weekend, I decide to make few off the shelf DIY mist maker (already installed water pipe adaptor, water level adjuster, PVC pipe, PVC T-join and container with cover ).

This weekend will be in Pahang to complete a standalone BH. As electricity, water pipe and tweeters are up already, except owl prevention, hexagon tweeter and external speaker, so hopefully I able to get the BH up by this weekend. Will update you for the progress of the BH from time to time.

Assembly of DIY Ultrsonic Humidifier

Pictures above are showing 10 disc ultrasonic mist maker and UK standard transformer. As I mentioned in my previous post, just put the 10 disc ultrasonic mist maker in the container and make a small hole for the cable to come out for connecting to the transformer ( it is put outside of the container). Another thing is to install a water level adjuster to control the the water level in the container which about 1 cm above the mist maker sensor ( 2 small black pillars). Please do not hold or carry the mist maker sensor as to prevent you from accidentally break it. The function of the mist maker sensor is to detect if the water level is lower than certain level, the mist maker will stop running as to prevent it from spoit. 

Finally, you just make a 4 inches hole to install a PC fan at the side of the container.  You can use other type of container to modify either.

As maintenance, you just need to clean the water in the container, 2 to 6 months once, depends on your birds' population. High population, water will get dirty faster.

Operation Hours ( 12pm to 5:30pm)- You can set timer to 15 mins On & 15 mins Off (raining season) or 30 mins On & 15 mins Off. However, it depends on the weather in your area.

DIY Humidifier

You can DIY ultrasonic humidifier with such easy find container. You only make a hole on the lid of the container and install a 4 inches PVC pipe on it as shown in the picture. It will be easy for cleaning of the disc maker by opening the cover. The rest is just install the water level adjuster at the side of the container. In such hot weather nowaday, it is recommanded to have ultrasonic humidifier in the Bird House. Ultrasonic humidifier is much quiet than those Taiwan humidifier and will not disturb swiftlets in the BH especially young birds.

This 3 storeys Standalone Bird Farm in Bera, Pahang is going to be in operation. Now is working on installing water pipe, cleaning the floor, setup the sound system. Before turning on the sound system for open ceremony, I will make sure all the aspects are in order as beginning is the importance stage for being a successful Bird farm.  I will broadcast the best Internal and External sound in my collection to obtain another outstanding result. Sound System Setup

Last weekend just completed installing sound system at my friend, Mr.J bird farm in Jerantut. It is located in agriculture land.

The BH is located in a good location as nearby has a big swamp that able to provide plenty of food to attract swiftlets to come. According the Mr. J, sometimes there is a lot of swiftlets flying around the swamp.

When I turned on the hexagon tweeters for about 5 minutes, nearby swiftlets came towards the sound and circling over the tweeters, some even perch beside the tweeters, from there you can know that the swiftlets like the sound very much.

To my surprise, there are some bird houses in the progress of setting up around that area. They are built with 5 storeys high, hereby you know that farmers willing to invest with such huge capital in this industry, there must be its reason, but it is a long term investment. It also means that, there will be more competitive to bring in swiftlets to stay in the BH. So one must be very understand of very aspect of the BH structure from design, sound system, nesting plank, internal environment and etc.

As we know, nowaday more people build their BH in the agriculture land to prevent local authorities disturbance. This has caused the price of agriculture land to history high, some crazy farmers even offer Rm300,000.00 for a hectare.

Interior Design of Bird House

Besides of macro environment, this is the critical part for a successful BH. One can not see from outside of the building and to be full of curiosity what is inside for a such succesful BH.

Do you think someone will tell you this??? Why? Because this is secret. Even though you pay them, they may not be telling you everything. Why? Again, this is secret. But, it can be they do not know or 'half bucket'of water.

You need to accumulate the experience for a long time in this industry. Besides, if able to see the spot, it will be good in order to give a precise advice.

Basically, interior of BH consists of nesting plank which installed with 1 ft by 3 ft, a partition to block sunlight from entrance hole with distance a least 4 m, VIP room with a least 4 x 4 m, entrance hole not less than 2.5 ft, humidifier, tweeters and etc.

All these are discoverd by doing a lot of experiments. When you design a BH, you must think like a swiftlet and understand the behavior of swiftlet, such as where is turning area (how big this area required), where is playing area (roving room), nesting area (at least 4 x 4 m, of course there is exception), VIP room and etc. How the tweeters being intalled and the quantity (for 20 x 70 ft building, around 120 - 160 pcs).

There are many others aspects to consider as well. Now you know, how complicated to design a swiftlet fond BH, you need to have some knowledge about it.

Once you understand the behavior of the swiftlet, you will be able to design a successful Bird House.

Next week need to installed sound system for my friend's new Bird House.

3 of 4（馬六甲）亞羅牙也縣牙力鎮斯里布拉山花園的一座新店屋被新業主闢作燕屋，所播放的招燕錄音招惹居民反感，引起市議會的關注，下令業主在30天內拆除燕屋設備。


有關新店屋共有8單位，部份已經出租，新業主將其中3個單位店屋的樓上闢成燕屋養燕，奈何燕子未到，居民的投訴聲先到。

約有整10戶人家因住在燕屋鄰近，結果受到為引燕播放的聲響干擾。

馬華亞羅牙也市議員鍾錦福週日（7月4日）受詢時，證實市議會進行查證後，上述養燕活動沒有合法執照。

李亞玉：干擾孩子溫習

72歲居民李亞玉埋怨養燕播放的鳥鳴聲，令他聽了感覺難受，小孩子也無法集中精神溫習功課。

“有關鳥鳴聲從早上6時多開始，一直到晚上八九時不停的播放，令人煩躁。”

“特別是家中的3名侄孫，目前都在求學，播個不停的鳥鳴聲刺耳，干擾他們溫習功課。”

李亞玉因按耐不住，原本打算向警方及市議會投報，但考慮到業主也是華人，念在同胞的情分上，他打消了主意。

業主賺錢也須體恤居民感受

“我們希望業主即使要賺錢，也得體恤附近人家的感受，即刻停止播放鳥鳴聲。這樣的聲音弄到我們心很煩。”

他說，養燕也得看地點，這裡是鎮上住宅區，又靠近學校，不適合養燕。

居民魏鏡（60歲）說，有關引燕播音器的聲響，有時很大聲，特別是晚間聽得很清楚。

黃志強：一個多月前就有噪音

居民黃志強（65歲）指出，他早在一個多月前就已留意到這種嘈音，只不過沒加理會。

“如果你問我這裡是否適合養燕？答案是見仁見智，只要沒有聲音污染，不會干擾人家，問題就不大。”

鍾錦福：牙力鎮3燕屋沒執照

市議員鍾錦福說，亞羅牙也市議會已在監督及關注牙力鎮上的養燕活動，並在6月17日召開執法小組特別會議，決定對未獲批准的養燕活動採取對付行動，包括限期30天內把養燕設備拆除。

“會議決定對有關業主發出第二封通知書，限期拆除燕屋的設備，或向首席部長署提呈申請養燕執照。”

他說，根據當局查證，由於沒有申請養燕執照，牙力鎮3間店屋的養燕活動是非法的。

“所有的養燕活動，必須擁有獸醫局及市議會的相關報告，以便提呈首席部長署申請執照。”

獸醫局：靠近學校住區3店屋不適養燕

“據瞭解，獸醫局認為有關3間店屋並不適合用作養燕，原因是它位於鄉鎮中心，靠近學校及住宅區，同時也考慮到嘈音及衛生問題。”

他指出，市議會所採取的行動，不僅僅是針對牙力鎮，而是轄區內各個角落的養燕活動。

“市議會主席也親自發出指示，要屬下官員關注各地區的養燕活動，因為很多地方的養燕活動都沒有申請執照，如榴槤洞葛、馬日丹那及馬接等地區。”

Please bear in mind that not really the loudest of sound will attract the more birds to come and stay. Furthermore, you will cause unneccessary complaint from your neighbor and bring about government to close this industry in the town area.

燕子噪音受不了
美華花園居民拉橫幅申訴
（怡保6日訊）巴占美華花園居民齊拉橫幅，投訴有人在住宅區內進行養燕活動，導致居民飽受噪音環境困擾。
據居民透露，該花園住宅區內有3間雙層店舖單位的后面樓頂，分別于2個月、1個月及1週前搭建鐵板，將整座樓頂封密著，之后頻頻傳來燕子般的鳴叫聲。

特定時段鳴叫

居民指出，通常是在每天上午8時、下午2時和5時的特定時段，就會聽到鳴叫聲。

居民相信是有關單位安裝的自動播音器所致，以便吸引燕子飛來，進行養燕活動，但居民指從未見過“有關人士”出入該處，之前祇見建築工人進行搭建工程。

基于噪音影響居民的日常生活，並擔心健康問題下，有關居民于今日向馬華怡保市議員兼怡保西區區會公共投訴局主任林慧賢投訴，促請怡保市政廳採取執法行動，阻止有關人士在花園住宅區進行養燕活動。

市廳無接獲申請

我已將30名居民的集體簽名和投訴信呈交怡保市政廳，經過查詢，得悉怡保市政廳並沒有接獲任何養燕申請，包括該處3個店舖單位相關人士。

據我瞭解，地方政府不批准在住宅區進行養燕活動，祇允許在工業區或郊區，唯今尚未有明確的養燕指南。不過國家獸醫局已在草擬中。

我會跟進處理此問題，希望問題獲得圓滿解決。

冀市廳採取行動
居民譚四妹（72歲，住逾10年）

家裡有6名成員，最小的孫女是12歲，我人老多病，心臟病、糖尿病和血壓高等樣樣齊，最近因為噪音問題，睡眠也不好，使到身體狀態欠佳。

我希望怡保市政廳採取執法行動，協助居民解決問題，保障居民的居住安寧與健康。

噪音干擾生活
居民周礦林（66歲，居住15年）

我的喉嚨非常敏感，經常咳嗽，家裡還有5名孫子，他們年介于10歲至15歲，而年幼孩子的抵抗力弱，真擔心自己和孫子的健康出問題。

煩人的噪音，也令孫子不能專心溫習功課，而老人家的午睡時間也受干擾。

擔心傳染病菌
居民吳海深（75歲，居住15年）

距離太近，我擔心燕子的糞便會傳染病菌，居民的健康受到影響。

這區向來環境幽靜，但自從出現養燕活動后，每天上午8時、下午2時和5時，就會傳來鳥鳴噪音，令我感到非常困擾。

黃燕燕：成為重要經濟來源‧燕窩業須系統化發展

（柔佛‧峇株巴轄）旅遊部長拿督斯里黃燕燕透露，目前大馬有8000名華裔企業家投身養燕業，全國的燕屋也多達4萬間，但燕窩業必須系統化發展及擬定相關的法令條文，才能成為大馬重要的經濟來源。


黃燕燕週一（6月28日）晚上在海景酒樓為峇株巴轄燕窩商工業公會2010至2011年度理事主持宣誓典禮時發表談話。

她說，燕窩業是國家的新經濟企業，但至今該行業都沒有正式的法律條文，一切必須從零開始；在立法的工作上，州政府及市縣議會扮演最重要的角色，因為有很多事，中央政府都不能給州政府任何指示。

“馬華非常注重及支持養燕業，因為這個行業可說是100%的華人企業，現在內閣已經指示農業及農基工業部負責養燕業的事務，而馬華又擁有一名副農業部長蔡智勇，相信他將可以與業者對話交流以提供協助。”

須強調帶來就業機會

她指出，現在養燕業不合法，所以業者沒有繳稅，她希望燕窩業能夠系統化發展，而且公會也必須向政府強調該行業所帶來的就業機會，以獲得政府的支持。

黃燕燕認為，像清洗燕窩這種細心的工作，可以交給一些單親媽媽負責，讓他們與孩子一起在家中工作以賺取生活費。

“清洗1公斤燕窩的清洗費高達1000令吉，目前大馬每年出產350公噸的燕窩，這筆清洗費就高達3.5億，可以為弱勢群體如單親媽媽提供不少就業機會，讓他們增加收入。”

可要求合法設燕屋

她指出，養燕業可以配合政府新經濟模式的推行，向政府要求合法註冊，若燕屋必須設立在城市內，業者也可以向當局提出設立“養燕區”的建議，但最重要的是必須注意衛生，以獲得居民的支持。

她透露，去年4月政府已經與燕窩同業組織組成一個特別委員會來探討該行業的問題，目前大馬是世界第二的燕窩出產國，希望未來也能展翅高飛成為第一。

黃燕燕：提昇遊客購物用費
燕窩或成為旅遊商品

黃燕燕表示，去年大馬的遊客總數多達2300萬人，目前遊客來馬旅遊的用費中，購物用費只佔29%，希望未來能提昇至35%，所以燕窩也有潛能成為大馬的旅遊商品之一。

她認為，若燕窩要成為大馬的主流旅遊產品，業者就必須保證本地燕窩的品質，確保不會有假貨以免影響國譽。

她說，去年大馬旅遊業的總收入為540億令吉，希望能在2020年增加3倍，達到1700億令吉；去年來馬旅遊的中國旅客也成功突破100萬人。

針對中國遊客在大馬購買燕窩回國時被指沒准證無法通關的問題，她表示，最重要的是本地的燕窩產品必須系統化，那麼當局便可以通過在燕窩產品印上公會標誌等方式，來解決上述問題。

百樂馬華代表大會
黃奕龍吁遵從養燕指南
百樂燕屋3年內須搬
（直涼1日訊）馬華百樂區會代表大會吁請州政府儘快推出完善的養燕指南，以有效管制燕窩業，可是在會中，馬青團長黃奕龍卻語出驚人的說出，百樂縣議會已經擬定法案，百樂縣市區和住宅區的燕屋將在3年內強制性遷離！
黃奕龍也是百樂縣議員，他指出，百樂縣議會已經初步討論，在進一步研討3年后或會推行該措施。

馬華百樂區會主席拿督鄧福樂指出，燕窩業在直涼是一個新興行業，可是由于缺乏管控，導致目前情況已經失衡。

他說，有鑒于許多居民不斷投訴，一個有效指南和執法是必需的，否則只會困擾居民。

同時，黃奕龍也勸告燕窩商，指燕窩商應該遵從養燕指南，尤其是有意投資者，更應該在較不影響人民作息或遠離市區的地方養燕。

他說，畢竟燕窩業是需時數年才能看到成果，若現在投資后，縣議會改法令，那就真的欲哭無淚。

同時，大會也通過數項議案，包括吁請百樂公共工程局關注直涼單行道及雙向道的指示牌，以控制車輛速度，避免發生交通意外。

對此，黃奕龍也代縣議會解答說，其實縣議會已經撥了一筆款項，並打算逐步提升，包括想辦法解決車輛在華小前加速的問題。

“由于議會意識到，車速過快可能會對學生造成危險，所以已經擬定方法解決此事。”

鄧福樂：爭取華社支持
國陣須有改變

鄧福樂指出，藉著最近數次的補選，可以漸漸看得出馬華並非過去一般的深得民心，可是並非是馬華的全部責任，其中整體國陣的腐敗和巫統的獨權，更是令華社心寒。

他說，要爭取華社的支持，除了馬華，巫統也許改革，讓党本身變得更符合人民的要求，而非是與其他党鬥臭鬥爛。

他說，華人如果沒有支持國陣，那在之前的數次大選，國陣怎可以牢控我國政治長達50年？可是現今的華社離開，主要是華社的思想已經進步年輕化。

他說，最起碼，現今的華社不再接受派糖果的方法，如果要爭取回華社的選票，就必須改變，整個國陣成員党的改變。

Humidity

What is the good range for humidity? The answer is between Rh 85 - RH 95. Why?

1. This type of environment can produce big, clean and good shape nest (so can fetch better price).

2. If the humidity is much lower than the range, the baby birds will feel thirsty in short time. So the swiftlet need to fly back to feed the baby birds every now and then. Do you think the swiftlet will like this type of environment?

3. If the humidity is much lower than the range, the nest will be attached with many feathers as swiftlets will encounter fall off of feathers. Do you think the swiftlet will like this type of environment?

4. On the contrary, if the humidity is much higher than the range for long term, the nest will be hard to dry and stick on the nesting plank. The worse case is the nesting plank will grow fungus. Do you think the swiftlet will like this type of environment?

So now, you know how important to control the humidity between Rh 85-95.

Temperature and Humidity

Everyone knows that internal BH temperature needs to control between 26 - 29 degree Celcius. Why?

Because if the internal temperature is below this range, the egg will be difficult to hatch and the swiftlets have to fly back more frequent to keep the egg warm, do you think the swiftlets will like this type of internal environment? The answer is definitely NOT.

If the internal temperature is higher than the range, it will be good for the egg, how about for swiftlets itself? Swiftlets do not like too hot in BH, that's why most of the fail BH temperature is higher than 31 degree Celsius most of the time.

This is to prove that swiftlets like WARM environment in the BH. So if sometimes the temperature hits 30++ degree Celcius, it is OK, don't worry.

As long as the temperature is fluctuating within 3 to 4 Degree Celcius, it is OK to the swiftlets.

This is only the basic explanation, but from this finding, I think my blog readers have better and further understanding about this area.

Basic Criteria for a Succesful Swiftlets Farm

To have a successful swiftlet farm, one needs to choose a good location, have a

good interior design, within acceptable temperature range and humidity range,

good internal and external sound, good and reliable sound system (not

neccessary with expensive equipment), smell in the farm, management and etc.

I think most of us already know all this aspect from many sources, but how do

we create and achieve it and why we need to have it?

I will break down individual aspect and share with you in future.

Right Mindset Need to Possess for Swiftlets Rancher

What mindset need to possess for a swiftlets rancher? Humble, right attitude, spirit of dare to

fail, patient,.....

All these things are must to have but not easy to implement.



Humble - Always ask for advice and listen to experienced ranchers.



Right attitude - Earn the money with noble character and integrity.



Spirit of dare to fail - try and error, keep trying things that you think is possible to bring benefit to your BH



Patient - Need to have patient when very things are in order. (provided BH has impovement gradually, if not, no point waiting)
